What is a Christmas Dice Gift Exchange?

A Christmas dice gift exchange is a fun and simple game to set up. It involves rolling a dice to determine which gifts people will open. Each guest will bring with them a wrapped gift to the party. The game is played with each person taking turns rolling the dice and following instructions on the game card. The game works really well for a works Christmas gift exchange.

Hosting a Christmas dice gift exchange is a lot of fun, especially when most of the gifts have been unwrapped and players can see which gifts they can swap with. This is where it can get a lot of fun as people desperately try to steal and hope not to lose the gifts.

When I play this game with my family, I will often add a few boobie prizes. So, instead of something people would want, I will add a tacky gift. But here is the fun part the boobie prize that everyone is desperate to get rid of actually has a £10 note inside or is a clue for a better prize.

How to Play the Game

Everyone has arrived, and it’s time to start playing the game! Here are some step-by-step instructions for playing a Christmas dice gift exchange:

  1. Have each player select a gift from the drop-off table and then have them sit in a circle.
  2. Decide on the starting player, and have them roll the dice.
  3. The number the player rolls corresponds to an activity on the game card. Everyone then must do what the matching number on the card says to do, for example, swap gifts, pass gifts to the right, open your gift, etc.
  4. The game continues in this way until all gifts have been opened.

To keep the game lively and engaging, play some upbeat holiday music in the background. If a player unwraps a gift, it is still in play and must be moved and swapped around the group. This just adds a whole lot of fun, as everyone can see what they are swapping!

I love this game a lot. You may think you are safe with the gift you unwrapped, but until the last person has rolled their dice your gift can still be swapped with another person, or passed left or right. So much fun.

With the game finished you can then admire everyone’s goodies.

Choosing the Right Gifts

So, let’s get everyone ready for the Christmas dice gift exchange! I’ve got some awesome tips to make sure everyone’s gift game is on point.

  • First things first, let’s set a budget. Figure out how much you want to spend on each gift and make sure everyone knows so there are no surprises. We’re all about keeping everyone on the same page!
  • Do you want players to bring more than one gift?
  • Next, I like to pick a theme; this is optional but can be fun. How about “Tasty Treats” or “Fun in a Box” or “Disney”, for example? This will make the gift exchange even more entertaining when the gifts are revealed.
  • Setting the Rules: Does anyone coming to your party have allergies? Is there a need for age-appropriate gifts… non-alcoholic etc. You want everyone to have a good time so it’s a good idea the gift to be swapped will be suitable for everyone.

Are You Ready To Play?

Christmas is a season of fun, and what better way to celebrate than to gather with our loved ones, create memories and spread the love by sharing gifts. So have everyone bring along a wrapped gift and get ready to take turns to roll the dice and pass gift around and even steal one from someone else. The laugh as people try their luck at getting the best present it’s infectious. It’s a great way to get everyone involved in the festivities and adds an element of surprise to the gift-giving process. Overall, the gift exchange game adds a playful touch to any Christmas gathering, making it an event to remember and, let’s face it, a lot more entertaining!
