Hi all, are you stuck planning fun ideas for your 4th of July celebrations this year? You have to try some Minute to win it games. These are so much fun to play especially if you have a group of people you need to entertain. Each game only lasts 60 seconds, but don’t be fooled as things can get pretty competitive really quick!

Whenever we get together with all my extended family, it’s always the simple games that end up being the biggest hit. I don’t bother with expensive equipment and avoid hours of planning. A few quick challenges, throw in a one-minute timer, and suddenly my whole family is totally engaged.
That’s exactly why I wanted to put together these free printable 4th of July Minute to Win It Games.
The download includes 12 patriotic challenges, printable game cards, score sheets, winner rosettes and even a printable star sheet for one of the games. Just sharing some festive fun.
You can play a few games between grilling on the barbecue, chatting with the grandparents, or just for something different to do between lunch and the fireworks, its all about making memories!
You probably have everything you need already lying around your house to set the games up, you really don’t need anything fancy. I love the simplicity, and seriously if you want maximum patriotic fun that everyone will be talking about later you have to try this! Here are some fun minute to win it games to try.

What are Minute to Win It Games?
If you’ve never played Minute to Win It games before, they’re brilliantly simple.
Each player has just 60 seconds to complete a challenge using everyday household items. Some games test speed, others need a steady hand, and a few are just a little bit of luck!
The best part is how everyone suddenly forgets how to do the easiest things once the timer starts ticking. Somehow picking up pom poms with chopsticks or stacking cups becomes so much harder!
I love that everyone can get a chance to play, children, teenagers and adults can all join in together. We all know those family games where the adults have an unfair advantage well these challenges level the playing field and often it’s the kids who surprise everyone.
My Favourite 4th of July Minute to Win It Games
#1. Red white and blue
This one looks deceptively easy! Players use only a pair of chopsticks to sort red, white and blue pom poms into matching colour groups before the timer runs out.
It sounds simple… until the clock starts.
#2. Liberty Relay Race
This is a fantastic team game. This one does last longer than. 60 seconds but its a great team game.
Players balance a book on their head while carrying a torch to a turning point before racing back to hand everything over to the next teammate. Drop the book? You’ll have to stop, replace it and keep going!
#3. Eagle Eye Toss
Grab a bucket and a few beanbags. Standing behind a line, players have one minute to land as many beanbags in the bucket as possible. You will need adjudicators to keep count. You can make it more of a challenge by trowing in a blindfold of have players throw with their non dominant hand.
#4. Firecracker Blast Off
I love this game, it one that tends to get quite frantic! To start with you will need to place a row of plastic cups along the edge of a table or counter top for each player. The game starts with players inflating a balloon and using nothing but the escaping air to blow all of the plastic cups off the edge of the table.
The trick is all down to how much you will the balloon! No hands allowed!
#5. Sponge Relay
This is perfect if you’re celebrating outside on a warm day. This game can be played in teams or individually. The aim in to race backwards and forwards taking turns to carry water using only a sponge, trying to fill their bucket.
Expect a few splashes along the way!

Plus Seven More Challenges…
The printable also includes:
- Star Struck
- Star Spangled
- Freedom Flipper
- Star Spangled Stack
- Balloon Toss
- Rocket Roll
- Junk in the Trunk
Each challenge takes just one minute to play, making it easy to pick your favourites or work your way through all twelve.

Supplies You’ll Need
One of my favourite things about Minute to Win It games is that you probably already own most of the supplies.
You’ll need things like:
- Plastic cups
- Balloons
- Chopsticks
- Mini pom poms
- Buckets
- Sponges
- Rice
- A couple of empty tissue boxes
- Beanbags or bals
- Ping pong balls
- A book
- A torch
There’s really nothing fancy you need, which makes these games perfect for last-minute plans.
How to Run Your Own Minute to Win It Competition
I like to set up a small table with all the challenge cards laying face down.
Players take turns drawing a card, completing the challenge and earning points along the way. I usually split the group into two teams, as it always adds to the fun! I like to throw in prizes for this type of game its usually just a small candy for everyone. Or if its for a celebration I will bring out some cupcakes.
It’s simple to organise and keeps everyone involved, whether or not they’re playing or just cheering from the sidelines. Naming no names but one of the Grandmas in my family are the most competitive!!! You know who you are!
