What is The 5 Second Game?

The 5 Second Game is a fast-paced and hilarious word association game that will make your brain cells dance. You’ll need to think on your feet and speak even faster. The challenge is simple: come up with three one-word answers in just 5 seconds.

This Valentine’s game is great for parties, family gatherings, fun brain break activities and seasonal classroom shenanigans. They require speed and sharp thinking, guaranteeing some hilarious answers!

How To Play THE GAME

This game is perfect for big groups, so it works great for office parties, Galentine’s parties, hen parties etc. It is also really simple to learn and play!

Here’s how to play:

  1. Divide the players into two teams.
  2. On their turn, each team will choose a member to play.
  3. Set a timer to five seconds, I use my mobile phone.
  4. Choose one player to read out the card, while another has to name three Valentine’s Day–related things by answering the question that is written on the card.
  5. If they answer all three items correctly within five seconds, their team scores a point. If they cannot give all of the answers, then it is passed to the other team to try.
  6. The next team cannot repeat any of the items mentioned by the previous player. If they succeed, they steal the point from the team.
  7. The team that scores the most points wins!

You can make it even more exciting by giving out prizes or offering extra bonus points. How about an extra point if someone gets an especially hard question correct? My favourite bonus point is for the craziest answers given, and I heard a few when I played with the family. Feel free to modify the game as you see fit; anything goes!

What Types of Questions Are There?

Here are some examples of questions that you will find in the printable.

  • Name three things that rhyme with love.
  • Name three things that are red.
  • Name three songs with love in the title.
  • Name three things that Cupid might carry.
  • Name three things that are fluffy.
  • Name three things that start with the letter V.
  • Name three things you might get for Valentine.
  • Name three ice cream toppings.

Make sure everyone is having fun and laughing along with each other while playing this Valentine’s Day game. I love having prizes in the game, and depending on the ages playing, you can choose something age appropriate.

Perhaps candy for the kids or Vodka shots for the adults, lol. Now I’m not saying I have done this..but maybe I have done this (it was fun!).
