Thanksgiving is one of those holidays where the kitchen is bursting with good smells, the table is full, and the kids are glued to their devices or circling like hungry seagulls waiting to ask you daft questions right as you’re trying to stuff the turkey! If your house is anything like mine at a family gathering, there’s usually a moment where you think: We need an activity, and we need it now!
That’s where the Thanksgiving Escape Room Hunt can be a lifesaver.

This printable game turns your home into a clue-filled adventure. It’s designed for families who love a little mystery, some clever thinking, and just a spattering of chaos (but the fun kind).
Let’s walk through what it is, how it works, and how to set it up in your home.
What Is My Thanksgiving Escape Room Hunt?
Think of it as a scavenger hunt meets escape room puzzle-solving challenge. Players work together to solve clues that lead to hidden puzzles and clues around your home. Each clue leads to another in search of a final prize at the end of the game.

There’s no complicated props needed or difficult prep just some cutting up of puzzle pieces, and you can print everything at home. Just add a prize for the end of the game and maybe a lock or two if you want to add that escape room vibe.
This is designed for ages 7–12, but younger siblings and grown-ups can jump in too. It’s family-friendly, so everyone can get in on the adventure.
What’s Included
Inside the printable pack, you’ll find:
- A Thanksgiving themed mystery adventure
- Clue cards, puzzles, and code-based challenges
- A step-by-step game guide (so you’re not left guessing)
- A Lock kit to elevate the game by adding real locks
- Coloring pages
- Player certificate, plus more….
Everything is ready to print, just choose paper, hit print, and let the fun happen.

Setup: Quick and Simple
The setup takes about 30 minutes. Here’s the basic flow:
- Print the game pages: I recommend bright white card for best results but regular printer paper is absolutely fine.
- Plan the order you wish to play the clues. You don’t have to use all the clues in the kit if they don’t fit your home; feel free to omit them from your game. You will also find a set of blank clue cards; get creative and add your own flair.
- Cut and place the clues.
- Gather the players and set the scene. I would advise you to tell the players if there are any areas that are off limits and any rules you have at the start of the game.
- Let the adventure begin.
- Don’t forget a prize for the end of the game! I’ve included some colouring pages print them out and add some crayons for an easy to set up prize. You may also like these fun turkey lolly holders, they would make a perfect Thanksgiving party favor.
What Clues are included?
As well as some traditional rhyming clues you will find a variety of different puzzles for players to solve.
- Search for objects you would find in a turkey dinner
- Simple turkey themed jigsaw puzzle
- Decode a Cipher Wheel
- Decode the Braille message written on the corn
- Pop the balloons to reveal a secret message

Clue Locations
You don’t have to use every suggested location, it is completely up to you which you use! Four of the puzzles let you decide where the answers lead, so you can match the clues to your own home or space. Plus, there are blank clue cards included if you’d like to create a few of your own.
Here is the list of clue locations ready to go. Plate, Comb or Hairbrush, Television, Under a Pillow, Shoe, Mirror, Book, Sink, Doormat, Table.

Tips for Hosting a Fun Game
- Make clue hiding easy on yourself. In the kit I have included a simple planner sheet. All you need to do in advance is plan which clues you want to use and create a step by step route the players will take.
- To get the most out of the game, think about the order of the clues. I personally will choose locations that are furthest apart so players are running from one end of the house to the other.
- Adjust difficulty as needed. If your crew is puzzle-savvy, don’t be afraid to add some extra challenges into the mix. I love placing some of the clues into a locked box. The players need to open the lock before they can even access the game clue. This is great if you want longer game play or you have older players.

Why Families Love It
- Keeps kids entertained without sat on their phones or devices
- Encourages the family to work together
- Works in small spaces, apartments, and big homes alike
- All the hard work is done you just need to half an hour prep.
And maybe most importantly, it’s all about making memories, the kind kids actually remember! Kids remember spending time with you doing something fun together. The dishes and tidying up can wait!
