Wednesday Escape Room

Are you looking for a thrilling Halloween event that will keep your friends and family entertained for hours? Look no further than this Wednesday escape room, inspired by the fun TV show!
Setting up the game is easy and stress-free thanks to pre-designed puzzles that will challenge players, but also being fun. Simply choose a location – be it your office, school, neighbourhood, or home – and you’re ready to go!
This game is a little more on the darker side than my regular games. So because of this I would say that you should use your description when it comes to playing this escape room with kids younger than 10-11.
Once you’ve selected your location, it’s time to set up the puzzles. Each puzzle is unique and exciting, from navigating a 3D maze to following bloody footprints and decoding messages on a gravestone. QR codes and videos will provide additional clues, keeping players engaged and challenged throughout the game.
How to play the game
The answer to each puzzle is a unique location that you, as the game master, will set up before the game begins. Answers will lead players to different rooms in your home, or even to different houses in your neighbourhood. How exciting is that! Each puzzle has a QR code for players to scan to reveal a message from our ever-cheerful Wednesday character. I had a lot of fun making the videos to go with this escape game. You can test one by scanning the code on the picture below.
You will write the locations of the next puzzle inside the character’s diary. Don’t worry. I tell you where to fill in the location in the game guide. You will place the next set of clues at that location.
Here are some ideas of what you can write inside the diary as additional clues for players.
- Look for a rusty, locked box.
- A gnarly old tree whispered secrets to me. We must find it and see what secrets it holds.
- Buried at the bottom of a pile of discarded clothes a secret lurks
- A number etched behind a heavy wooden door will open a red box. ( you can write the number to open a lock on a piece of paper and then pin it to the front door).
As the game host, you have complete control over the players’ experience. Set up different locations to guide players towards the ultimate goal of solving the mystery of Nevermore! Use your creativity to add extra challenges and surprises along the way. Don’t worry I help with a handy lock kit included in the game kit.
Set the scene
To make the escape room even more immersive, consider adding themed decor and sound effects to the game. Dim the lights, play spooky music, and add some fake cobwebs to create a truly eerie atmosphere. I’m guessing you probably have a box of fun props you use for Halloween; grab these, they would be perfect!
Here are some fun prop ideas
- A fake tombstone
- Gelli Baff or floristry water beads to hide clues inside.
- Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Pop these inside the slime for the ewww factor.
- Moveable walking hand prop.
This game is perfect for teens and adults who crave something different at Halloween. This could be an adventure they won’t soon forget. The puzzles are fun and should not be overly difficult for players. In fact, some of the puzzles tweens can join in and help search and assemble clues, but probably not one they could play independently without a little help!
What’s included in the Escape room kit?
The kit has nearly everything you need to set up your escape room. You will need a phone or tablet with a QR code scanner and an internet connection to play the game. Throw in a few locks if you want to use them and you are all set.
Easy prep game – minimal set-up required for you. There is only one puzzle that will require some prep work and that is cutting out some bloody footprints. But if you can’t be bothered, you can leave out the clue from your game, LOL.
DIY game – This is all the game material but designed for you to cut out, build and hide.
End of Game Signs – use these for the end of the game for some photos.
Printable Lock Kit – In the kit are some more simple clues that you can use to add some mini puzzles to help players find a key or the lock combination.
Character Videos – the players scan the QR codes throughout the game to play messages, which will help players solve the puzzles. YOU WILL NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION!
