Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year. The free Halloween charades game is a must-do activity for our family. Young and old can all play along and get involved in the silliness.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

  • Free Halloween charades printable cards (the link is at the bottom of this post)
  • A couple of Halloween party favors and a skeleton trophy for the winning team.
  • A timer – your phone is a handy tool for this!
  • A bag/box or other container to hold the charade cards. I have a plastic pumpkin tub that I use.

Print the Halloween charade pages. Some of the charade cards are a little trickier but they are great if you are playing with adults. Included in the kit is a blank template so why not go crazy and make some of your own.

There is a background page included in the download. Use this to print on the reverse of the charade cards for a nice professional finish. Go all out and grab a laminator to protect them for years of game playing fun!

HOW TO PLAY CHARADES

Place the cards into a bag, bowl or stack them up one on top of the other with the words facing down.

Split into teams. One team will begin; choose one player from the group to start. The player will read the words on the card and must act them out using mime only. The rest of the team must try to guess what is written on the card within an allotted time. Set a timer. 1-2 minutes is a good starting point. If you have younger players, you may want to give them a little more time.

Play will continue alternating between each team. The team with the most correct answers will be crowned the winners and will have bragging rights, lol.

OTHER WAYS TO PLAY

Pictionary – Instead of acting out the words, players draw what is written. The other players have to try and guess what the person is trying to draw. We use a large whiteboard set up so everyone can see.

PlayDoh – Players will have to sculpt the words out in play-doh for players to guess. It would be super fun to have a mini cauldron or pumpkin favour pot filled with homemade play-doh, it also doubles up as a party favour.
