There are so many fab games out there that let me get my thinking cap on, are fun to play with groups and give me that escape room hit when I need it! Grab any of these games and it’s going to be perfect gift for your escape room fan, or anyone who loves problem-solving and puzzles. 

I’m a bit of a fan of murder mysteries and found myself down the Netflix tunnel watching documentaries galore during lockdown.  I know a lot of my escape friends also love the whole murder mystery genre so I am going highly recommend  the unsolved case files.

EXIT THE GAME BOXED ESCAPE ROOMS

There are some really great tabletop escape room games. There are loads of really fun themes to choose from so you will be able to find a game that will tick all the gift-giving boxes. Exit the games have about 17 different games to choose from. And I have to say that I haven’t played them all but I can highly recommend the few I have.

1. Murder on the Orient Express – This is the perfect boxed game if you are also a fan of Poirot or Agatha Christie. It combines logic/lateral puzzles while trying to figure out who committed a murder on the Orient Express. This is not a game for the newbie player!
2. Abandoned Cabin – This is not the trickiest game but I liked this one and was perfect to play along with a couple of friends. This would be good for a newbie escape roomer or someone who wants to play along with their family. I don’t feel that this is challenging for hardened escapers, but it’s still a nice game.

RAVENSBURGER ESCAPE ROOM PUZZLES

Help hone their puzzles skills with an assortment of fun jigsaw puzzles. In our house, we love a good puzzle and during lockdown, my hubby and I found some great ones to fill a good few hours. The puzzles themselves we loved, the pictures are great and the puzzles on the actual jigsaw itself were fun to solve. Ravensburger puzzles.

There is a large selection to choose from. We did four during lockdown some are more difficult than others but there is a grading system on the box to guide you as the best gift for your escape room fan.

EVIL IMPOSSIBLE PUZZLES

I love these logic puzzles and there are so many really great ones out there to buy. Many moons ago when I was still at school we made our own logic puzzle from plastic. The puzzle was made only from a square cut into four pieces and although it was actually very simple to make it was a bit of a mind-bender to reassemble when made into the puzzle. That project is still lurking in an attic somewhere.  

These are some of the puzzles that I have played, and I don’t mind telling you they kept me entertained for hours.  I love them because they don’t seem possible to solve. But you know that there is a solution, usually, it involves thinking a little bit outside the box. I particularly liked the wave puzzle. So infuriating but satisfying when you finally discover the solution.

Puzzle Books

I have lots of puzzle books, and there are so many different types it’s difficult to know where to start. You have your classic puzzles; my personal favourites are logic puzzle grids. I travel a lot, and I always have a book handy to kill a few hours. These would be great as a stocking stuffer gift.

You also have a whole genre of escape style puzzle books. Where each page, you must solve the puzzle before moving on.  Anything that gets your brain ticking over is a positive in my book. Throw in a notebook, nice pen and bookmark and thats a pretty good escape room lovers present right there!
