Looking for a fun and unique Halloween activity for the whole family? Why not try a Halloween treasure hunt! Instead of traditional clues, use these printable puzzle clues to lead your kids to the final Halloween treasure. With morse code clues, a cypher wheel, and more puzzles to solve, this is sure to be a hit with everyone. So print out the clues, hide them around the house, and let the hunt begin!
How to Play
To play, simply print out the clue sheets and place them around the house (one clue per hiding spot). The first clue will lead to the second clue, and so on, until they eventually find the final clue which will contain the final treasure and the players can claim their prize. The kit is super flexible and you can set the order of the clues and if you don’t want to use one of them just skip that clue. For the final treasure you can make the prize anything you want – candy, a small toy, or even just bragging rights!
The great thing about this Halloween treasure hunt is that it can easily be tailored to any age group. For younger kids, you can make the clues easier to find and if needed provide additional instructions if you think they will need them. For older kids or even adults, you can make things more challenging by hiding the clues.
These Halloween clue cards are perfect for kids who love puzzles and codes. They’ll have a blast trying to crack each code to find out where to go next. And if you want to make things even more challenging, try cutting the puzzle cards in half, and hiding both parts! They’ll have to discover both parts before they can solve the clue.
Clue Locations
There are 12 clue cards in total. There is no set order you have to play the puzzles, so you have the flexibility to choose the route of your treasure hunt. Here are the locations included:
TELEVISION, CHAIR, TABLE, FREEZER, LIGHT, UNDER A RUG, MICROWAVE, CLOCK, MIRROR, FORK, FRONT DOOR, WINDOW
Halloween Treasure Hunt Prizes:
One of the best parts of treasure hunts, whether it’s a Christmas treasure hunt or Easter treasure hunt is the prize at the end! I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite treasure hunt prizes for kids and a couple that are good options for teens as well! These prizes would be perfect if you wanted to play this Halloween bingo game too!
There is nothing wrong with Halloween candy but with an abundance of candy being offered over Halloween here are some other fun alternatives.
- Halloween Movies
- Halloween Bath Bombs: These are so much fun and contain a toy inside.
- The Haunted Mansion – Call of The Spirits: Disneyland Edition Game
- Pumpkin Pinata Place a pinata at the last location and fill it with goodies. This would also be fun at one of the clue locations; place some treats inside along with the clues card.
- Augmented Reality Halloween Lego This is a fab prize but only suitable if you are playing with your direct family. You can then spend time together building the lego.
- Boo Hollow: – Pumpkin Showdown, A Silly Spooky Card Game
- Halloween Hidden Picture Puzzles: Fun Halloween activity book.
Play in Teams
If you have a large group of players, split into teams. Have each team play a different route. The clues will be the same, but you can change the order of the clues for each team. You will need to print out a set of Halloween Treasure Hunt cards for each and indicate which card is for each team. Placing the clues inside different coloured envelopes would be an easy solution.
Another alternative would be to divide the clues. Have only 6 clues for each team. This way each team will solve different clues. The game will be quicker but is a good alternative.
Other Halloween Games
Here are a collection of other Halloween games. From treasure hunts, escape rooms and bingo. Something for everyone!
