Halloween Dice Game for Kids: Lucky Dice Printable

Who will be the first to fill their board in this fun Halloween Lucky Dice game? Roll the die, collect your counters (or even better candy!), and hope your luck doesn’t run out before you reach the finish! My easy printable Halloween dice game is perfect for a family game night or Halloween party.
There’s something about dice games that I just love. It’s probably because they’re so easy to set up and play. Or perhaps it’s watching someone go from being absolutely certain they’re going to win to losing half their counters on the very next roll!
It really levels the playing field, so young and old can play together.

Everyone starts with three counters, and the aim is to be the first to fill your board. Easy, right? Well, that depends entirely on what the die decides to do!
I’ve made this Halloween version with a fun Frankenstein character, and you can play with ordinary counters or swap them for Halloween candy. Personally, it’s the candy option all the way, although I’m not sure how many pieces would survive until the end of the game. Oops!
What You’ll Need to Play Halloween Lucky Dice
You won’t need much to get started, and chances are you’ve already got most of it at home.
- Halloween Lucky Dice printable: Includes the Frankenstein game boards, matching paper die, and instructions. Grab them at the bottom of this post or in my shop here.
- Printer and paper: Bright white paper is the best but regular printer paper works absolutely fine, use cardstock though for something a little sturdier.
- Shallow bowl or Cauldron: Put this in the centre of the players to hold the counters or candy.
- Scissors and glue: To cut out and assemble the printable die. A little tape works too.
- Counters or candy: You’ll need three to start each player off, plus plenty of extras for everyone to collect during the game.
How to Play Halloween Lucky Dice
Ready to find out who’s got luck on their side? The rules are really simple, although winning might not be quite so easy!

Step 1: Get Everything Ready
- Give each player a Frankenstein game board and three counters (or pieces of candy).
- Place the remaining counters in the middle of the group (inside a cauldron would match the theme) where everyone can reach them.
- Assemble the printable die, or use one you already have.
- That’s it. You’re ready to roll!
Step 2: Roll the Die
- Choose someone to go first. You could let the youngest player start, or have everyone roll to see who gets the highest number.
- The first player rolls the die and follows the matching instruction on their game board.
- Depending on what they roll, they might get to add counters, lose a few, or miss out altogether. That’s where the luck comes in!

On your turn, you roll the die and follow the instructions based on what you roll.
- Pick One – Take one counter from the centre pile and place them on your game board.
- Pick Two – take two counters from the centre pile and place them on your game board.
- Everyone Swap Left – everyone stands up and moves to the seat to the left, they must play with the new game board.
- Take Two From Someone Else – Choose one player and take two of their counters and place them on your game board.
- Put one back – take one piece of candy from your game board and place it back in middle.
- Switch Seats With Another Player – choose wisely, which player will you choose to swap with.
Step 3: Keep Taking Turns
- Pass the die to the next player and keep going around the table.
- Each player follows the instructions for their roll, adding or removing counters from their own board.
- You might be one counter away from winning, only to lose a few on your next turn.
First to Fill Their Board Wins!
- The first player to fill all the spaces on their Frankenstein game board wins!
- Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from playing another round. Just clear the boards, give everyone three counters again, and see if the winner can keep their lucky streak going.
There’s a little bit of strategy involved too! When you get to steal two pieces of candy from another player, will you go straight for the person with the biggest pile or pick on someone who’s already running low? And don’t forget, when you switch seats, the candy stays put! If you roll a 6 you could make a sneaky move for a bigger pile. Who knew a simple dice game could get so competitive?

Halloween Lucky Dice Game FAQs
You want a minimum of 4 players to make it lively. Ive played with a group of 12 and that was a lot of fun! You will just need to print a Frankenstein game board for each player and make sure you’ve got enough counters to go around. It’s a great game for large Halloween parties.
The game is perfect to player 6 -106. You can have younger players join in too of course they may just need a little help. It works for all ages as its a game of luck so the grown ups don’t have an unfair advantage!
Absolutely! In fact, I usually use Hershey’s kisses. But you can use buttons, plastic tokens, or even coins. But if you’ve got some Halloween candy handy, go for it.
The length of each game really depends on the number of players and how the dice rolls. Not a great answer I know but I’ve have 5 minute games and 20 minute games!
Absolutly yes, of course! Once the game is downloaded, you can print fresh copies whenever you need them for your own personal use. But if you print on cardstock and laminate the boards reuse the game again next Halloween!
Yes, you do! If you roll a 3, you must move one seat to your left, leaving your game board (and all its counters!) behind. You then carry on playing from your new seat with whatever is on that board.
And if another player chooses to swap seats with you, you’ve got to move then too!
That’s what makes Lucky Dice so much fun. One minute you’re just one counter away from winning, and the next you’re swapping places with someone who’s barely started filling their board. Of course, it works both ways. You might just find yourself moving into the winning seat!
Ready, Set, Roll!
One of the best things about this game is that you don’t need to spend ages setting everything up. Just print the game, grab some counters, and you’re pretty much good to go.
It’s a great little game for mixed ages, too. Younger kids can join in with a bit of help, while the grown ups can get surprisingly competitive. And because it’s all down to the roll of the die, nobody has an advantage.
