Easter Treasure Hunt

Love, love, love an Easter treasure hunt. Call it what you will, a scavenger hunt or treasure hunt; the goal is the same. Find the loot!

If you haven’t done an Easter treasure hunt with your kids, this year could be a great time to start a family tradition.I have made it super easy to do. All you really need to do is grab a pair of scissors and one of my kits.
What’s included in the Kit?
There are 14 ready-made clues in each of the Easter treasure hunt kits. You can play the clues in any order. If you don’t want to use all of the clues, no problem. Pick and choose only the clues you want to use in your treasure hunt.

Here are some examples of the types of puzzles and clues you can expect to find in Easter Treasure Hunt.
TOP TIP: The puzzles, clues, and flow are already done for you. Just print, hide, and play.
Cipher Code Wheel
I love using these fun code wheels. For best results, print using bright white card and secure the two wheels together using a split pin.

Players use the code wheel to decipher the message written using the cute pictures of easter eggs. The cutout window on the top wheel reveals the letter that is associated with each egg. Lots of fun and easy to pick up.
Daisy Grid
In the game, the secret message isn’t written using letters. Instead, it’s hidden using pairs of numbers shown on daisy cut-outs. Each daisy has two numbers on it, and those numbers point to a specific letter on the Polybius Square.

Here’s how it works: The square is set up as a simple grid. One number tells you which row to look at, and the second number tells you which column. Where they meet, you’ll find the letter you need.
TOP TIP: I recommend laminating some of the clues so you can reuse the game next year. You can create a totally different route year after year.
Carrots Clues!
Carrot Puzzle One: Follow the Carrots: Players will find a card that tells them to follow the carrots. Following them leads the players to their next clue. So simple, right?
Print out the carrots included in the kit and leave a trail leading players from one location to the next. You can make the route as long or short as you like.

Carrot Puzzle Two: Pop the Balloons: I use balloons a lot in my escape games, and this Easter hunt is no exception. Clues are written on paper carrots and placed inside balloons, letting you choose your own hiding spots and locations. Players pop the balloons to reveal the next clue.
Top tip: If you’re planning to use balloons, it’s worth checking for latex allergies or balloon phobias first. We want a fun treasure hunter, not a group of kids sprinting in the opposite direction.
Cracked Egg Puzzle
Players hunt for pieces of eggs and assemble them to reveal hidden word, their next clue location. Each completed egg shows one letter. The clue card lets players know the correct order to place them in order to reveal the final word.

For a fun twist, hide the egg pieces in a tray of sand, or go all in with something messier like jelly bath slime. Kids can sift, search, and piece everything together, turning the puzzle into a hands-on treasure hunt moment.
Secret Codes!
My treasure hunts are more than just a set of rhyming clues. As my children have grown up, I’ve found I’ve needed to make the games more challenging.

So I started including secret codes and puzzles. As a result, the games are far more entertaining. The kids need to work a lot harder to find their Easter eggs. It’s totally worth the effort of setting up.
Grill Cipher Puzzle
The cutout strips should be placed in the correct order on top of the clue card. The holes cut out of the strips will then reveal the next location. I love the simplicity of the puzzle and its perfect for younger players.

Make It A Mini Escape
Turn my treasure hunt into an Easter Escape Room game! At each location, instead of players just finding the next clue, hide them inside locked boxes or containers. Included a piece of a jigsaw puzzle with each clue. At the end of the game to get the Easter treasure players assemble the puzzle to reveal the lock code.
Here is one of my favorite lock clues.

Place a bowl of mini eggs or jelly beans in a bowl. The players will sort them into colors and count. If you have a three-lock combination, have three different colored sweets. The number of sweets is the number you will set your lock to.
