Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. It’s the perfect chance to celebrate love and make some fun family memories with your kids too. If you’re looking for a holiday activity that’s easy to set up and ends in big smiles and big hugs all round, this Valentine’s Day treasure hunt is your new go-to plan!

I would much rather spend time with my family having fun and showing them that I love them all, even if they don’t load the dishwasher properly, lol! So a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt is just the ticket.
I have a great treasure hunt perfect for playing as a family, solving clues and puzzles to find the prize at the end. Yes, there has to be some reward for the end of the game, and as its Valentines, it has to be chocolate or candy in our house!
Prep Time and Setup Tips
I would allow about 30 minutes to prepare the printed material before the game starts. You’ll need to print all the treasure hunt clues you want to use. Cut out any puzzle pieces, and assemble the cipher wheel using a split pin or paper fastener.

Supplies Needed:
Below are the supplies I recommend to get the best out of the printable!
- Bright White Cardstock – not necessary but it makes the treasure hunt bright and sturdy!
- Printer I love the ink tank printers I will never go back to cartridges this HP one is what I use.
- Plain paper, pens or pencil for players to take notes
- Scissors
- A treasure for the end of the hunt – how about these cute cupid fart favor printables.
How Long Does The Game Last?
It’s honestly hard to put an exact time on this one. There are so many ways to set the hunt up that it can take anything from around 30 minutes to well over an hour, depending on how much you add in.
When I’m setting up treasure hunts for my own kids, I like to go the extra mile and have a bit of fun with it. Hiding clues in slime, Jelly Baff, or floristry beads is always a hit. I’ll sometimes pop clues inside balloons, or tuck puzzle pieces into locked boxes to slow things down and build a little suspense. I love using rhyming clues, but it’s the puzzles in the game that really make it feel that extra bit special.
How Many Puzzles Are There?
There are fourteen premade puzzles, cyphers, and activities. But there is no set route to play so if you only want to play 5 locations, you can do that. This is an excellent option if you have limited time to play, plus you can save the rest of the activities for another day.

What’s Included?
- A PDF with all puzzles, clues and tasks 12 pages of clues.
- A Game Guide PDF
- An Extras PDF that includes a certificate, cupid poop treat toppers, and more.
Tips and Tricks for Parents
- If you’re playing with younger kids, they may need a little help reading some of the clues, which often turns into a nice chance to solve things together.
- Setting the scene can make the hunt feel extra special. A few simple props or some fun music in the background is often all it takes.
- When you’re choosing the final treasure, it doesn’t need to be anything big. A small treat or a family movie night works beautifully.
- As you’re hiding the clues, it’s worth keeping track of the order you’ve placed them in. There’s a handy tracker included in the Valentine’s kit to make this easy.
This Valentine’s treasure hunt isn’t just one type of puzzle, it’s a little bit of everything. From decoding clues to solving word puzzles and piecing things together, there’s always something new waiting for the kids to solve. I wanted to create a game that is fun, engaging, and easy to replay, making it a Valentine’s activity you can enjoy again and again.
