Hi, I’m Dawn! A mum of two, and the creative force behind Lock Paper Escape, a place where puzzles, creativity, and family fun come together. I’m so excited to share all my crazy obsessions with you!
Life has taken us on a bit of an adventure. A chance job opportunity saw our family pack up and move to Qatar over 15 years ago (what an experience!), and more recently, we’ve started a brand-new chapter on Ascension Island. Living abroad has shaped so much of what I create, especially the importance of making everyday moments and celebrations feel special, wherever you are in the world.
Here at Lock Paper Escape, I’m all about creating fun moments at home without it feeling like hard work. Whether you’re looking for a treasure hunt to keep the kids busy, a DIY escape room the whole family can enjoy together, or an easy party game that doesn’t need crafty skills or loads of prep, you’re in the right place. Everything is designed to be simple to set up, fun to play, and the kind of activity everyone actually wants to join in with.
How Lock Paper Escape Started
When I first moved abroad with two small children in tow, I was determined to make the most of every celebration. Birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings became the perfect excuse to create new party games.
At the time, there was nowhere locally to buy party supplies, so I started making my own. Before long, I became that mum, the one friends turned to for fun party ideas.
A few years later, my husband suggested I try selling some of my games on Etsy. I wasn’t sure anyone would buy… but within hours of listing my first game, I had an order. I was amazed. That little experiment quickly grew into a thriving Etsy shop, and to date, I’ve sold over 28,000 games, something that still puts a huge smile on my face.
What I Create
I absolutely love designing escape rooms and treasure hunts. From the first idea to the final puzzle, I get excited by the whole creative process, and I hope I never lose that spark.
Today, Lock Paper Escape is home to a growing collection of printable escape rooms, treasure hunts, party games, and kids’ activities, all designed to be easy to set up, fun to play, and genuinely memorable for families.
Who Lock Paper Escape Is For
My customers are mostly parents and grandparents who want to create something special for their children without the stress of planning everything from scratch.
That’s where I come in. I do the hard work so you can focus on the fun part. And because everything is a digital download, games are available instantly, making them perfect for last-minute plans.
